At some point in nearly every workforce planning meeting, someone asks questions such as:

  • What does our labor force really look like right now?

  • Which industries are growing in our region?

  • Are labor force participation rates changing—and for whom?

  • Do we have credible data to support this funding request?

The American Community Survey (ACS) contains answers to many of these questions. Yet many workforce professionals are not fully aware of how much actionable information the survey provides—or how easily it can be used.

In this session, Monica Dukes from the U.S. Census Bureau will demonstrate how ACS data can support workforce planning, program design, and policy discussions.

Participants will learn how to use ACS data to:

  • Understand education levels and skill profiles in their communities

  • Identify industry concentrations and occupational patterns

  • Examine labor force participation trends by age, race, and other demographics

  • Strengthen grant proposals with credible federal data

  • Provide clearer context for board discussions and strategic planning

This webinar is designed to be practical. You will learn where to find the most relevant ACS tables, how to interpret the data responsibly, and how to translate numbers into insights that support better workforce decisions.

If you have ever wished you had stronger data at your fingertips during a planning session or board meeting, this session will give you tools you can begin using immediately.
