State Workforce Agencies Invited to Apply for $12 Million in Grants to Modernize Workforce and Unemployment Programs

Research Improving People’s Lives (RIPL) is offering $12 million in grants to state governments in the first half of 2023 through its Opening Workforce DOORS Grant Program. The program aims to help modernize outdated workforce and unemployment programs using cloud technology, streamlined digital services, and government data.

State governments will receive technical assistance and cloud technology to build and deploy the Data for Opportunity in Occupational Reskilling Solution (DOORS), which connects job seekers with reskilling and employment opportunities in in-demand industries using AI and machine learning. DOORS analyzes a user’s resume and skills and provides actionable recommendations for training opportunities and job openings that lead to higher wages and earning potential. The program is designed to address America’s widening skills gap and empower individuals to change their lives.

Priority applications are due by Friday, March 10, 2023, at 5 PM ET, and governments, non-profits, educational institutions, local workforce, or economic development entities are invited to apply. For more information and to apply, email innovationcatalyst@ripl.org.
