Retiree Update

By Sharon Mike, IAWP Retiree Chair

I hope this finds you doing well and surviving the nasty winter if you aren’t in the warm & sunny southern US. Below is some of the latest IAWP news for you. As always, let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you in San Antonio!

Retired workforce professionals will have plenty to choose from at the 2019 Workforce Development Conference, June 16-19, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas.

In terms of education, our keynote and workshop presentations will offer opportunities for those currently employed in the workforce system and retirees who want to stay in touch with current and future trends. The 2019 program will include workforce education and personal development programs. We are working to have the full descriptive agenda ready by the end of March.

There will also be plenty of networking opportunities at the many eateries along the San Antonio river walk, including the annual Retiree Brunch. We always appreciate our retirees sharing their experience and knowledge mentoring current workforce professionals.

San Antonio is also a top tourist destination and offers a full slate of historic sites, entertainment, delicious food, shopping and more. Be sure to take a casual stroll around our host hostel, the historic La Mansion del Rio, which sits on the banks of the famed San Antonio river walk and offers beautiful Spanish architecture. You can also hop aboard a river taxi for an architectural tour of the downtown area and stop in El Colegio upon your return for one of La Mansion’s hand-made margaritas.
