Gary D. Adkins, 73, former President of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP), passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
Gary was a resident of Topeka Kansas where he graduated from high school in 1962 and Washburn University in 1973. Gary married Mary Carole Monk Ramsey in 1982.
Gary retired in 2002 after 37 years of service at the Kansas Department of Human Resources. He began his career in 1964 in tax accounting and eventually advanced to serve on special assignment with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. and as a service executive for America’s Workforce Technology Solutions.
Gary served many integral roles in IAWP, including international president. Members remember Gary as a kind, thoughtful and hardworking leader.
In addition to IAWP, Gary was active in: Washburn University Alumni, Score, Auburn Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Miata Club and Kansas Explorers and Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; brother, William A. Adkins Jr and many nieces, nephew’s great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
