IAWP Seeks Support for Bylaw Changes: Transitioning Federal Tax Status

The International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP) is embarking on a significant transformation that will shape its future. We are proposing to transition our nonprofit tax status from a section 501(c)(6) organization to a 501(c)(3) organization under the federal tax code.

This transition holds immense promise for IAWP and its members. By embracing a 501(c)(3) status, we are positioning ourselves to better serve you and the community at large.

A 501(c)(3) organization is classified as a charitable entity, exclusively dedicated to religious, educational, scientific, or similar purposes. By aligning with this status, IAWP will have the opportunity to operate as a charitable organization committed to providing invaluable workforce educational services. This shift will allow us to pursue our mission more effectively, access new funding sources, and broaden our support network.

One of the most significant advantages of this transition is the potential for tax-deductible contributions for donors. This incentive will encourage individuals and organizations to support IAWP’s initiatives, thereby enhancing our credibility and reputation as a leading organization in workforce development.

To facilitate this change, we have crafted updates to our bylaws, ensuring compliance with the requirements and regulations associated with 501(c)(3) status. We kindly ask for your approval of these proposed changes, which are outlined in Articles 1 and XIII of the bylaws, highlighted in red font. You can review the draft by clicking here.

Your support in this endeavor is pivotal. As an integral member of IAWP, your vote in favor of the proposed bylaw changes will enable us to move forward confidently in our pursuit of excellence and service to our members.

Together, we possess the power to continue making a positive impact in the realm of workforce development and empower professionals worldwide. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and commitment to IAWP.
