October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and the International Association of Workforce Professionals is pleased to support the occasion by offering a webinar on October 14th entitled, Improving Workforce Development for Young Adults With Disabilities .
NDEAM marks its 75th anniversary this year. Originating in 1945, Congress declared the first week of October as “National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week,” with the word “physically” removed in 1962 to acknowledge individuals’ needs and contributions with all types of disabilities. In 1988, Congress expanded the week to a month and changed its name to NDEAM.
Workforce professionals are encouraged to participate, as are educators and youth service professionals, business associations, labor unions and disability advocacy organizations.
IAWP would like to thank, Kirk Lew, Supervisor, Youth Team, Office of Disability Employment Policy, U.S. Department of Labor and Sydney Geiger and Dina Klimkina, with the The Council of State Governments for presenting the webinar.
