IAWP Statement Regarding the Tragic Death of George Floyd

The leadership of the International Association of Workforce Professionals is deeply saddened by events in Minneapolis and other places that underscore the violence against people of color.

Our government is founded on the principle that everyone is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that no one may be deprived of those rights without due process of law. To fulfill America’s promise, all Americans—of whatever color—must receive, equal justice under law.

The tragic death of Mr. Floyd and others, must be honored and not forgotten. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stated, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” As workforce professionals and citizens of our community we must demand better from our country, our government, our fellow citizens, and ourselves.
