2020 Workforce Development Conference Cancelled Due To COVID-19 Concerns

IAWP has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Pennsylvania, specifically the Pittsburgh area, with the hope that conditions would improve enough by late June to allow us to move forward with 2020 Workforce Development Conference.

While Governor Tom Wolf will be easing COVID-19 restrictions for the Pittsburgh area on May 18, unfortunately the new restrictions prohibit in-person gatherings of 25 or more.  Our host hotel, the Omni William Penn, suspended all operations in mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic and decided yesterday, after reviewing Governor Wolf’s actions, to extend its projected re-open date to July 1st.  Because of this most recent change, the 2020 Workforce Development Conference has been canceled.

Since the decision to cancel the WDC 2020 has just been reached, please allow us a little additional time to address the related issues. We will follow up with you in the coming weeks with additional information regarding the possibility of other virtual events and plans for things like elections and awards that normally take place at the Workforce Development Conference.  Updates will be available on workforceconference.org.

We will sincerely miss the opportunity to re-connect in 2020 and thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

The safety of our workforce community is paramount, so we hope that you continue practice appropriate social distancing practices to keep you and your family safe.  Thank you.
